
Srinakharinwirot University
Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) originated as the “Higher Teacher Training School” at Prasanmit, Bangkok, on April 28, 1949. It later evolved into the “College of Education” and, subsequently, into a university, broadening its academic and administrative scope. Officially named Srinakharinwirot University on June 29, 1974, the institution’s name signifies a commitment to bringing prosperity and prestige to the metropolis, emphasizing educational and cultural advancement in Thailand and beyond.
Today, the Department of Dance at Faculty of Fine Arts offers two specialized programs aimed at developing expertise in both creative and pedagogical aspects of dance. The Bachelor of Fine and Applied Arts in Creative Dance and Management, divided into Thai Dance and Western Dance majors, integrates a wide range of cultural dance traditions, including Thai, Western, and Asian forms, as well as alternative dance practices. The curriculum combines traditional knowledge with digital technology and performing arts principles. It also emphasizes entrepreneurial skills specific to the performing arts, preparing graduates to innovate and thrive in a rapidly changing cultural landscape.
