Monash University
At Monash University, we recognise the importance of arts education, including dance, in fostering creativity, self-expression, and holistic development in learners. Our faculty is actively involved in preparing educators to effectively teach dance in a variety of educational settings, from the earliest years of development through to advanced study and research. In early childhood education, our programs emphasise the importance of integrating dance and movement into the curriculum to support children’s physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development. Through hands-on experiences and pedagogical training, early childhood educators learn how to engage young learners in dance activities that promote creativity, coordination, and cultural awareness.
Our faculty provides pre-service and in-service teachers with the knowledge and skills to teach dance as part of a comprehensive arts education program in primary and secondary school settings. Our programs emphasise the value of dance as a form of artistic expression, cultural exploration, and physical fitness, and provide teachers with strategies for incorporating dance into their teaching practice across diverse subject areas.
